HURLEY, Va. — Hurley's many talented running backs all patiently wait their turn and one of them usually leads the way on any given night.
They all took turns when their number was called on Friday.
Brady Justice and Tray Oliver scored three touchdowns apiece to lead the Rebels to a 59-20 rout of Thomas Walker at Smiley Ratliff Field at The Cliff.
Justice rushed for 114 yards and three TDs on 13 carries, while Oliver added 95 yards on nine attempts and hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Zack Lester as Hurley scored 22 points in each of the first two quarters in building a 44-14 halftime lead.
Devin Tester scored the first touchdown of the game on a 15-yard run and added three two-point conversion runs, while Nelson Mullins had some nice runs in the fourth quarter when his turn came around in the fourth quarter.
"Devin, Brady, Tray, Nelson Mullins, all of them, if you get them in space they can do the rest," Hurley coach Greg Tester said.
Tester added a 35-yard punt return to set up one score Oliver's longest run came on a 53-yard score in the first quarter, while Justice raced 47 yards for a touchdown in the third period.
Their combined efforts helped offset a huge night from Shawn Williams.
The Thomas Walker junior ran for 132 yards and a touchdown and added a 99-yard kickoff return for a score to finish with 231 all-purpose yards for the Pioneer (1-5).
Hurley (5-1) scored on its first seven possessions, thanks to an ever-improving offensive line that starts two freshmen.
"Offensively, we executed did what we were supposed to do," Tester added. "Our offensive line's been doing a great job all season and these backs they really appreciate them, because they're opening some holes for them."
The Rebels garnered 280 yards of offense on just 32 plays, averaging over seven yards per carry on the ground.
A Justice interception set up one Hurley touchdown. Everyone on the Rebel defense had a good day, including Chris Spencer (11 tackles), Shane Hardin (10), Craig Stacy (6 solo stops) and Josh Mullins (8 tackles, 2 sacks).
"We had a couple of mistakes defensively and we gave them a little bit of confidence by letting them get on the board early," added Tester.
"But, once we started putting points on the board and our defense kind of clamped down we started playing really well.
"We had a little mistake on a punt return, we got to brush some things up on that, but overall it was a great win for us and a great team effort."
