Knights out as Princeton drops to 3-6

PRINCETON — Cabell Midland took advantage of great field possession in the second half to pull away and defeatd Princeton, 27-3, at Hunnicutt Stadium Friday night.
The Knights scored on their first possession when tailback Cody Carter wrapped up a 61-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run midway through the opening period.
Princeton answered with 37-yard drive that stalled and Brandon Barrett drilled a 42-yard field goal.
In the second quarter, a 60-yard pass from Stephen Hamer to Stephen Matthews set up a 26-yard field goal by Chris Molina.
The Knights took a 10-3 lead to the locker room.
In the third quarter, Cabell Midland mounted a 41-yard drive on its first possession with Carter scoring from 28 yards out.
Later in the quarter, again after getting great field position, the Knights stretched their lead to 24-3 on 42-yard Casey Thomas touchdown run.
Molina drilled a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give Cabell Midland its final victory margin.
Princeton finished the game with 122 yards, including just 39 on the ground.
The Knights improved to 6-3 and Princeton dropped to 3-6. Princeton wraps up its season next Friday at Greenbrier East.
