PEARISBURG, Va. — Ian Mann continues to be the man for Giles, running for 173 yards on 13 carries and four first quarter touchdowns to lead the Spartans to a 63-12 Three Rivers District win over East Montgomery on Friday night.
Giles (8-1, 4-0) scored 35 points in the opening quarter, with Mann scoring four times in a matter of seven carries, and three times in a row.
Brett Whitlow added 127 yards on 10 carries and three scores of his own. Garrett Lee was 9-for-9 in extra points for the Spartans, who still haven’t punted in four TRD games.
Giles finished with 440 yards rushing, while the Mustangs (4-5, 1-3) were held to three yards on the ground. Alex Phillips did throw for 131 yards and three interceptions.
The Spartans forced five turnovers, including an interception and fumble recovery for Zach Simmons.
Giles can wrap up the Three Rivers title next Friday by hosting Radford.
