ONA — Versatile Casey Thomas ran for two touchdowns and passed for one to lead Cabell Midland to a convincing 42-7 home field win over Princeton, Friday night.
After the Tigers connected on a 54-yard pass from Jay Palmer to Sam Clements in the first quarter, Princeton’s opening drive stalled when a bad snap on a fourth down field goal attempt squashed the scoring chance.
Cabell Midland countered with a 76-yard drive, Thomas found the end zone from 20 yards out on a wingback counter. Early in the second quarter another wingback counter, this time by Steven Matthews burned the Tigers for a 57-yard touchdown. Later in the quarter Thomas dialed his own number as an option quartback keeper put him in the end zone from seven yards away.
The first half scoring closed when the KNights’ David Gaydosc sprinted around the right side from 23 yards out.
Following the break Cabell Midland continued the surge with fullback Lowell Farley pounding up the middle for a 13-yard touchdown and Thomas connecting on an 18-yard scoring pass to tight end Tanner Chapman.
Princeton got on the board early in the fourth quarter on a 55-yard Devin Allen touchdown run.
Princeton 1-8 closes its season Friday at home against Greenbrier East.
