Bears attacked by Northwood Panthers

BASTIAN, Va. — Northwood’s Jason Prater rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries, scoring one touchdown and throwing for another as the Panthers rolled easily past the Bland County Bears 35-16 on Friday evening.
Prater’s 32-yard scoring strike to Brennan Turley on a halfback option made it 35-8 before the Bears scored late to reach double digit scoring.
The Panthers outgained the Bears just 301 to 253 yards on the ground but dominated Bland County defensive line throughout the game, thus dropping the Bears to 0-3 for the season.
Logan Henderson added 87 yards on 10 carries for the Panthers with Blake Olinger netting 73 yards on 18 carries, The Bears’ top rusher was freshman Brian Arnold, whose only carry on the game’s final play was for 68 yards.
Quarterback Mason Christian rushed seven times for 50 yards and threw a 35-yard score to Aaron Rose. Andrew Pauley scored Bland County’s second touchdown on a nine-yard, fourth period run.
