COAL CITY — Chris Mills ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Patriots past Summers County.
Matt Ryan put the winless Bobcats (0-7) on the both with a 10-yard first quarter run, but the Patriots pulled within 7-6 at the break on a 1-yard run by Ryan Brandsetter.
Independence scored twice in the second half on runs of 10 and 50 yards by Mills.
Independence (5-2), which lost to the Bobcats 51-0 last year, took advantage of six turnovers, while holding Summers County to 209 yards on offense, led by Greg Shrewsbury with 115 yards on the ground.
Summers County will visit Meadow Bridge on Friday.
