Haysi 29, Clintwood 16
CLINTWOOD, Va. — In perhaps the most anticipated game of the season in Southwest Virginia, Haysi's quick-strike offense scored 22 points over the game's final 15:33 and the Tigers' defense dominated the second half in taking a 29-16 victory over Clintwood.
It was the 55th and likely final meeting between the Dickenson County rivals (a 1A West playoff matchup could happen down the road) and as expected, there was an electric atmosphere.
Ryan Turner, who moved back to Haysi after living in Kentucky for a few years, gained 118 yards on the ground and clinched the victory with a 3-yard scoring jaunt with 1:14 left.
