LINDSIDE — Isiah Clarkson ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, leading James Monroe to a 26-12 win over Liberty on Friday night.
Reed McNeer added 62 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown, as the Mavericks rolled up 352 yards on offense, including 278 on the ground.
James Monroe took an 18-0 lead in the first half. Clarkson scored on runs of 50 and 19 yards. Brian Young added a 22-yard touchdown run in the third.
Liberty quarterback Hunter Wright threw for 270 yards, completing 22 of 37 passes, including a 56-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter to Jaylen McDowell. The Raiders pulled within 18-6 at the break on a 14-yard run by Christian Whitaker.
James Reed was the defensive standout for the Mavericks, who held the Raiders to 39 yards on the ground.
James Monroe (3-5) faces a tall task over the next two weeks, visiting Bluefield on Friday and hosting Princeton to finish the season on Nov. 8.
