PRINCETON — Spring Valley broke open a close game late with a pair of fourth quarter touchdown passes en route to a 17-0 win at Princeton on Friday night at Hunnicutt Stadium.
In a defensive struggle for three periods, Spring Valley took a 3-0 lead into the final quarter. Sean Hayton drilled a 27-yard second period field goal to account for the only scoring until the Timberwolves’ late surge.
Princeton nearly grabbed the lead at the half.
The Tigers marched deep into Spring Valley territory before Dalton Ward picked off a pass in the end zone to end the Tigers’ most serious threat.
In the final period, Spring Valley quarterback Cam Roam found wideout Michael Hardin on a fly pattern with a 45-yard scoring toss with 11 minutes left in the game.
After a Tigers’ turnover, Roam hit Hardin on a slant route for a 5-yard touchdown pass to give the Timberwolves their final margin of victory.
Princeton wraps up the home portion of their schedule next Friday, entertaining Cabell-Midland.
The Tigers are now 3-5.
