PRINCETON — Hurricane scored 14 first quarter points and made that work, as the Redskins defeated Princeton 28-7 on Friday night at Hunnicutt Stadium.
Princeton (1-3), which lost for the third straight time against a difficult schedule, will visit Spring Valley next Friday.
Princeton actually out-gained the Redskins 202-182, but Hurricanes got on the board with a 55-yard pass play and a 10-yard scoring run for the 14-0 lead in the opening period.
Hurricane also scored on a fumble recovery in the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead before Christian Shafer ran for a 8-yard score with 1:39 left on the clock for the 21-7 deficit at the break.
Hurricane added another third quarter score for the final margin.
Shafer led the Tigers with 77 yards on the ground, while Zach Standifur added 66. Shafer completed 2-of-3 passes for 25 yards.
Princeton senior quarterback Jay Palmer and Tigers’ running threat Jordan Jones didn’t play in the game.
Hunter Keaton led the Tigers with six tackles on defense.
