PEARISBURG, Va. — Ian Mann scored touchdowns on runs of 71 and 25 yards on the first two offensive snaps of the game for Giles High on Friday night, and the Spartans rolled past Auburn for a 56-14 victory at home.
Mann carried the ball five times for 127 yards, and three first-quarter touchdowns. Dusty Boggess had two carries of 29 and 14 yards, and scored on both of them. Hunter Mathias recorded a safety for Giles (5-1) after tackling Auburn’s punter.
Tyler Perdue, Joe Lucas and Brian Mann all scored from within the 10-yard line for the Spartans, who amassed 12 first downs, 278 yards rushing and 403 total yards as a team.
Auburn’s Dustin Craft ran 19 times for 119 yards and scored both of his team’s touchdowns, late in the third and fourth quarter. Auburn had 153 yards rushing and 45 passing, and secured 10 first downs.
Giles plays next Friday at Glenvar.
