BLACKSBURG, Va. — The bear facts were tough on Tazewell.
Two touchdown catches by Luke Grant — one for 70 yards and another for 50 — ignited Blacksburg’s offense as the Bruins topped Tazewell 30-7 Friday in non-district action at Bill Brown Stadium.
For the Bulldogs, freshman quarterback Malik Davis scored from seven yards out with 2:47 remaining, and Tazewell (0-3) runner Mikal Moore picked up 80 yards rushing on 21 carries.
Blacksburg (1-2) had three interceptions, including two on successive series in the second quarter by Corey King. Both led to Carson Wise field goals. Wise kicked field goals of 32, 41 and 33 yards in the second stanza.
Grant also had an interception on defense.
The Bruins had 268 yards of total offense, including 129 on the ground. Halfback Ryan Sims, who led Blacksburg with 74 yards rushing, finished the scoring on the night for Blacksburg with a seven yard run in the fourth quarter.
Stevin Wilburn had 74 yards passing and two scores for Blacksburg, which had 11 first down to just five for the Bulldogs.
