Beavers return, demolish Red Devils

OAK HILL — Ten possessions, 10 touchdowns. in their return from a two-week idle period, Bluefield dominated Oak Hill on Friday night, beating the Red Devils 70-0 at John P. Duda Field.
Bluefield forced a fumble obn Oak Hill’s first snap, recovered by Jamere Edwards. One play later, Jason Edwards thundered in for Bluefield’s first touchdown.
Mookie Collier tacked on three first-quarter touchdowns on successive scoring runs of 5, 72 and 48 yards.
In the second period, Jordan Smith found Carlos Reed on a short swing pass and Reed sped past the Oak Hill defense for a 52-yard score.
Collier’s fourth touchdown of the half, a 58-yard lightning bolt, put Bluefield up 42-0. Later in the quarter, Jason Edwards added his second scoring run, this one from nine yards out, and Bluefield led 49-0 at the break.
Bluefield’s second unit took over after halftime and scored three touchdowns in a five-snap sequence. Jamere Edwards had two of those TDs, with runs of 40 and 29, sandwiched around an Arnold Martin 43-yard score.
With the win, Bluefield goes to 6-1 heading into next Friday’s showdown with James Monroe at Mitchell Staidum.
