Wayne (7-2) at Bluefield (4-4): This is basically a must-win — unless everything falls their way perfectly — if the Beavers hopes to reach the playoffs. It won’t be easy against the Pioneers, who have been beaten way too often by the Beavers. Prediction: Wayne 27, Bluefield 14.
Bland County (2-7) at Fort Chiswell (4-5): Fort Chiswell’s playoff hopes took a severe dent with the upset loss last week to Graham so they must beat the Bears and hope the percentage points fall in their favor. Bland County is trying to snap a two-game scoreless skid in its finale. Prediction: Fort Chiswell 35, Bland County 6.
Giles (8-1) at Radford (7-2): The Spartans are looking to take the single wing back to the top of the Three Rivers District. Giles has one loss this season, to previously (until last week) Christiansburg, while the Bobcats has lost against unbeaten George Wythe and Galax. Prediction: Giles 27, Radford 21.
Graham (4-5) at Narrows (0-9): These clubs last meet in the 1980s. Graham won both of those, and will win this one too. The G-Men can take a three-game win streak into the playoffs, while the Green Wave is trying to avoid a winless campaign. The Wave has reached double digits in points twice this season. Prediction: Graham 30, Narrows 9.
Grundy (5-4) at Mount View (0-9): Rumors have it that Mount View is playing its final game ever at its facility in Welch. Time will tell on that, but time won’t run out on the Golden Knights’ losing streak which will reach 27 in this one. The Golden Wave is playoff bound. Prediction: Grundy 27, Mount View 13.
Honaker (7-2) at Haysi (5-4): These clubs have met for the Black Diamond District title every season for the last two decades. Haysi needs a win to claim a share of the crown after a loss to Hurley. Always expect the unexpected in this one, but the Tigers will win ... and lose. Prediction: Honaker 27, Haysi 25.
Hurley (5-4) at Twin Valley (2-7): Hurley will look to secure a Division 1 playoff berth in this one, led by Austin Cooper and Tyler Berglowe. Twin Valley had reached two wins for the first time since 2006, and looking for three for the only time since ‘04. Prediction: Hurley 44, Twin Valley 20.
James Monroe (2-7) at Greenbrier East (4-5): The Mavericks will miss the playoffs for a second straight season, but they could help the Beavers with a win. The Spartans could reach the .500 mark for the first time in more than a decade. Prediction: Greenbrier East 26, James Monroe 23.
Montcalm (1-8) at Ervinton (1-8): Two schools looking for two wins meet in this small school scuffle. The Generals won for the first time last week at Hannan, while the Rebels lone victory came against Tri-Cities Christian. Ervinton dropped a 9-8 decision last week to Twin Valley. This could be just as close. Prediction: Montcalm 8, Ervinton 6.
Midland Trail (1-8) at PikeView (1-8): Two more teams looking for a two-win season. The Patriots have one win, that coming against Montcalm, while the Panthers defeated Liberty. No word on how many touchdowns David Keen plans for his career finale. Prediction: PikeView 15, Midland Trail 13.
Richlands (9-0) at Tazewell (0-9): An undefeated regular season is at stake for the Blue Tornado. A winless season awaits the Bulldogs unless they can pull a momentous upset. Don’t count on it. Devon Johnson might not go down in the one. Prediction: Richlands 70, Tazewell 0.
River View (8-1) at Westside (8-1): One of the many games of the night, with the No. 6 Raiders traveling to face the No. 4 Renegades. This game went three overtimes and ended in a tie last season, effectively knocking Westside out of playoff contention. The Raiders are looking to rebound from last week’s surprising loss at Lincoln County: Prediction: Westside 28, River View 27.
Summers County (5-4) at Valley-Fayette (7-2): Bluefield fans should be big Valley fans tonight. If the Beavers were to lose to Wayne and Bobcats lose, Bluefield might still be able to squeeze into the playoffs. Much is riding on both of those games. Prediction: Valley-Fayette 19, Summers County 16.
